The Big Bang Theory - not nerds after all?

For those of you who follow The Big Bang Theory, you would know that it's the story about a bunch of super-geniuses who fail terribly in the social circles because they're geeks/dorks/nerds/Sheldon. Of course, Penny's the hot one of the bunch, but would you think twice about dating the male cast if you see them out of character and in real life below? Let us know ok?

Howard Wolowitz

 Howard Wolowitz- in real life

How about that huh? Ok let's see another one. The lady shy Dr. Raj Koothrappali in the series...

Alright, the doctor is actor Kunal Nayyar in real life! Not so nerdy after all rite?

What about the unbearable Dr. Sheldon Cooper, unoffficial group leader and the one who gets on everyone's nerves?

Sheldon in real life...

So smouldering and so-not-sheldon, huh? OK, lastly Dr. Leonard Hoftstadter, with his on-off relationships with Penny and his very cute shy demeanor...

And he's transformed into Johnny Galecki in real life!

No matter how they look like in the series or in real life, we hope the dynamic group will continue to give us laughter and random unknown facts (through Sheldon, of course) throughout the years!

Ads: Engaging & Eye-Catching

Years ago, advertising had always come in the similar fashion of having the same characteristics. Nevertheless, with the changing times, creative heads have gone on to squeeze their brains for more creative ideas to ensure that every advertisement produced is more engaging and if not, more interesting than the last.

One of the ways to accomplish this is by ensuring that the advertisements are not only eye-catching but also relevant to the social context. Few examples of them are as per below:

The Return of Comebacks...Part One

Ever felt like you're in a feisty mood and you just need to come up with an awesome come back for someone else's insult (the traditional "Roll Your Eyes" and the sarcastic "haha you're so funny" is screaming uncool!)? Here are some ideas for your reading pleasure without bringing on the Yo Mama jokes...

"Is that your natural face or did your neck throw up on you?"
- for those who insulted the way you look-

"If brains were taxes, you'd be getting a huge rebate"
- for those who condescendingly implied you are dumb-

"Do you still love nature despite what it's done to you?"
- for those who told you you can't change the way you look-

"If I could rearrange the alphabets, I'd put "F" and "U" together"
- for those who gave you corny pick-up lines like "If I could rearrange the alphabets, I'd put "U" and "I" together"-

"Your kind of face is the kind I used to pay money to watch"
- for those who called you a freakshow-

"There there, it's ok. It's people like you that makes us appreciate beauty like me even more"
- for those who makes you feel like crap-

...and now, for the Le Grande Finale,

How to Dress Like Blair Waldorf

Whenever you are in doubt, or skeptical of your fashion sense; whenever you are headed towards any forms of fashion faux pas; or when you are in need of little bit of fashion education, get yourself locked down for a night in on Friday nights for an episode of Gossip Girl. Queen B and her 'so-called-minions' may just guide you into their whimsical world of fashion donned with exaggerated headbands, bright tights, tailored suits, designer jackets, and the like. Yes, you may also get some pointers from Serena Van der Woodsen, who is said having a style that is inspired by Kate Moss, that is if you like a mixture of boho chic and vintage styles. And yes, we shall not forget Jenny Humphrey, Vanessa Abrams and the oh-so-classy Lily Bass (or should I say Humphrey).
But today, let us study our very first exhibit: Blair Waldorf. The challenge? To incorporate B's styles into the Malaysian environment (so you won't look like you are trying too hard) - be it campus, work, parties, or casual shopping. Just follow these simple rules, and you are own your way to be the B's minions!

1. Headbands, headbands, headbands
If you don't even have these accessories to begin with, don't even think that you can pull of the rest! I personally adore Blair for her signature hair accessories! From big red bows, to bright yellow bands, to exquisite chic pieces, even berets, Blair can definitely make one huge fashion statement!

2. Tights
Yes, it is hot and humid outside, but it is no excuse to not wear a pair of tights or pantyhose if you want to dress like Blair! One thing's for sure: B almost never wears any dresses or skirts, without tights. Tights and pantyhose are cheap. You can get good ones for less than RM30!

3. Dresses and Skirts
In the 3rd Season of Gossip Girl, I notice that Blair loves wearing classy, A-lined pencil-skirts and dresses. I find these pieces clean, simple, and extremely classy. She wears these with tights or bare legs, either way, she goes all the way up on my score chart. You don't need to splurge on designer dresses, you can definitely find affordable ones at Forever 21, Treats, Seed, MNG or even Sungei Wang!

4. Tailored Cuts
Blair is all about being the perfect example of a classy high school queen. In the first two seasons, you may realize how often Blair wears 'uniform-style' tops. Safe and simple, collared tee and blazer matched with a skirt is probably the most appropriate college dressing if you miss wearing your school uniforms.

5. Bright Colors
Blair's styles are always daring and unique and one of it being her continuous experiments with bright, eye-popping colors. So if you want to dress like Blair, make sure that you have too, enjoy experimenting with colors. Wear bright red tights, or yellow headbands but make sure these colors make-up only ten percent of your outfit if you really want to make a statement!

6. Bags
If there is one thing I learnt: Bags are the most important accessories to invest in (apart from shoes)! Do it like Blair, by matching your outfit from super-sized bags (to keep your books and notes) to small pouches.
My favorites are Michelangelo, if you are into splurging, Paris Hilton, and Zara. But you will be fine with Charles & Keith, Pierre Cardin, Vincci Accessories if you want something affordable but that feels and looks like a million ringgit.

7. Coats
Yes yes I know. Serena and the rest of the stars cover themselves in warm, furry coats too, but none of them could pull it off like Blairs does. Malaysia is not exactly the perfect place to show off trendy coats but, hey, there's no harm pushing it jussstt a little, right?

If you have any more ideas on how to "Blair-It-Up" feel free to drop your thoughts and share with us! Till then, I will be keep you posted on the rest of the GG stars!

You know you love me,
XOXO

Bountiful Ribs Sensation

Have you ever walked by one of those Ribs Restaurants and just stop dead in your tracks? No? Well I sure did. I stopped right there in the middle of Pavilion KL, like a fat hobbit seeing “the ring” - when I saw the picture of the bountiful plate of ribs in front of Tony Roma’s Restaurant.

So, in I went with my dear friend to try this ever so famous plate of Roma Racks.
As we waited for our main course, we ordered an appetizer, the Onion Loaf to get us in the mood of eating. Although, honestly, the anticipation for the ribs really did not require much mood-setting. Nevertheless, the Onion Loaf was amazingly delicious and addictive.

The ambiance of the restaurant was cosy and pretty easy-going which was a great way to spend dinner time with family and friends.

At last, the moment arrived, and by that, I meant, the ribs arrived! Urmmmmm, with the good range of sauce selection - Yummy!

No words can really describe the sensation one gets upon tasting the juicy, tender and tasteful set of ribs filling up your mouth. All I can say is, I will definitely go back for more.

In terms of pricing, I’d say that it is within the mid-to-high range. Wouldn’t recommend eating the ribs weekly if you know what I mean. I suppose, a good plan is to perhaps go as a family this upcoming holiday season. :)

Let’s Get Serious About Online Shopping!

Online shopping is slowly catching up in our country especially among teenagers, youths, and young adults. As much as you think you may know about the perils of online shopping, don’t be surprised if you are caught off guard with a crappy purchase one of these days if you don’t follow our guides to online shopping.

Infamous Stories about Online Shopping
Before you start saying you don’t need any tips to shop online, read the following stories of boo- boos on online shopping first.
(source : “Slap Me Why Don’t You” and “Night Owl Says”)

Story 1: Did my dress size change overnight?

Customer A ordered a dress from Blogshop A. When they met up for COD (Cash on Delivery), Customer A took the seller’s word that the dress is a size L. However, when Customer A tried it on, she couldn’t even get it pass her head! And Customer A couldn’t get her money back as “Goods sold are not returnable” according to Blogshop A’s terms and conditions.

Moral of the story: Always request for the measurements before purchasing anything online!

Story 2: Hello, not everyone has asymmetrical feet like you!

Customer B ordered a pair of shoes from Blogshop B. The whole transaction went smoothly until Customer B received and tried on the shoes.
The right side fits perfectly but she couldn’t fit her left foot into the shoe! She emailed the seller who told her the famous phrase, “Goods sold are not returnable”.

Moral of the story: Always request for the in-sole measurement of BOTH sides of the pair of shoes.

Story 3: PROMOTION: Buy 1 T-shirt, Free 1 Boyfriend!

Blogshop C’s owner had a COD scheduled with a customer but couldn’t make it at the last minute. Thus, she asked her boyfriend to help her to pass the item to her customer (Customer C). When they met for COD, it was raining heavily and Blogshop C’s boyfriend (BF C) asked Customer C if she could give him a lift to the nearest shopping centre (BF C took a lift from his friend to get to the COD location).

Customer C and BF C ended up going for a movie, dinner, and he even took her home to meet his father! Customer C wrote about this online and received criticisms from the online community for being a boyfriend snatcher! This story is now a well-known tale among avid online shoppers.

Moral of the story: Sellers, do not send your BFs out for CODs. Buyers, do not gloat online if you do not want to be labelled as a boyfriend snatcher (and other ^#%@ names)

Top 10 Tips & Tricks for shopping online

1. Do not submit your order form if your order is not 100% confirmed. Most online sellers advise their customers to email them instead if they have any enquiries.

2. Always ask for measurements if it is not provided on the website. Something labelled as size S may not be the size S you are looking for.

3. Always keep a receipt after making payment. If the seller claims to not have received your payment, you would have proof.

4. For pre-order clothes from Taiwan and China, always order from reputable blogshops (especially those that have been around for a long time).

5. Always scour around the blogosphere before committing to a purchase as you may find a better deal in another website. (However, if the item you want is non-restockable, I would advise you to make payment as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.)

6. It would be good to visit websites such as Night Owl Says @ www.nightowlsays.blogspot.com to find out if the blogshop you are intending to buy from is a reputable one.

7. Many people may not do this, but it is best to read all the terms and conditions before buying from a website.

8. When requesting a seller to restock an item, do take note of how long the process might take before making payment.

9. Always ask for a picture of the real item if the picture in the website is a modelled picture.

10. If you intend to buy items from the US, make sure you get better deals by ordering from reputable Malaysian Online Shopping Shipping website like KULShopper @ http://www.dyumean.blogspot.com or VS Hub @ https://www.vshub.com/hotpicks/

Ipad VS Samsung Galaxy

I wanna have both so that i look way cool:) But still, if i have to choose, which one will it be?

Top10 comments!

1. Ipad have a slightly bigger screen but if compare with Samsung Galaxy, it feels like a COPYCAT

2. Samsung Galaxy have 512mb RAM yet Ipad only have 256mb ( yet Apple OS is much smoother)

3. Samsung Galaxy have 2 camera, front and back ( you can C2C all you one)

4. Ipad's games and apps are more fun and interesting and Itunes keeps the quality of the apps

5. Ipad can play up to 10hours of video playback ( Samsung Galaxy only 7hours)

6. Samsung Galaxy allow user to have unrestricted access to applications (Ipad have a lot of restrictions to user)

7. Ipad does not allow multitasking with apps and games (this suck)

8. Samsung Galaxy support Adobe Flash, means you can view more websites

9. Samsung Galaxy is actually a phone, you can make calls and use loudspeakers.

10. Samsung Galaxy allow 3G and wireless with the same price (Pay extra for 3G for Ipad)

I still stick with Ipad because of the quality of the games and apps

Time To Get Serious About... Last-Minute Studying

You jerk awake, you find yourself sleeping with a textbook for a pillow, the cleaning lady looking at you quizzically. Your exam is only an hour away and you can’t remember a thing from your little cram session last night. Sound familiar? As students we’re always faced with exams and if you’re like me, usually studying is not on the top of your priorities.

Here is the basic 101 to last-minute studying, from yours truly…

1. When studying last-minute, make sure that you leave no other distractions to bother you during the study period. Remove all the other distractions (It’s hard I know). The only thing that should be on your mind is studying. .

2. Prepare your essential tools for studying. By this I mean, get that cup of strong black coffee ready, or that nice long tube of ‘Mentos’. Most times an iPod and music always works.

3. Now, make sure you start with the harder topics. It’ll take more time for you to understand these topics before you move on to the easy ones. No lecturer’s going to quiz you on the easy bits anyway (they’re all out to get you!).

4. Get some past year examination papers for practice. Past year exams basically give you a rough idea on what to expect during the exams. Knowing your enemy is half the battle

5. If you still have problems studying by yourself, call for backup! Studying with a friend is a great way to revise especially if that friend is one who pays attention in class. Having a study partner who knows what he/she is doing definitely helps!

6. Be a teacher’s pet! Carry their files, and help them with the projectors. How is this, a study tip? Easy: if you’re in the lecturer’s good graces, they may offer you tips to help you study and even some last minute assistance

7. Get enough rest. You’re not going to pass an exam snoozing on your exam desk. Get enough rest and wake up earlier instead, to continue your revision before the exam.

8. Remember: stuffing your head full of new information right before your exams will just leave you confused during the exam. Stop studying half-an-hour before the exam to give your mind some time to let the information set in.

       Must-Have List for Crunch Time!
  •  Enough stationary – you never wanna run out of lead for your mechanical pencil
  •  Batteries for your calculator
  •  Lots of scribble paper (you’re going to need them for your doodles)
  •  A small distraction (we recommend Rubik’s cube or past seasons of FRIENDS)
  •  Your phone to SMS your friends – “omg @ chptr8 nw. 3 more 2go then its zzzz 4me!”
  •  Your study buddy – it can be your annoying brother or even your puppy
  •  An alarm clock set strategically to every hour to wake you up just in case you doze off
  •  Snacks that can feed a 3rd world country…you need the sugar!
  •  Some rockin’ CDs that definitely will not put you to sleep!
  •  Printed out lyrics just in case you wanna singalong to the tracks

Disclaimer: We at MYC do not condone last-minute studying (although most of us do it anyway) and even though this guide will help you absorb more information during your last-minute cramming sessions, it does not guarantee you an ‘A’ or even that you pass for that matte.
