I’m sure everyone agrees that ice cream is one the best desserts. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you can be an old, old lady, or a kid still crawling on four; everyone still enjoys a nice, cold, creamy treat. It turns grumps happy too!
We’re lucky to be Malaysians in this climate; it gives us an opportunity to indulge in the cold, sweet treat whenever we want to. Well… then again I still eat ice cream in winter. *grins*
The awesome part about ice cream is that it allows us to be spoilt for choices. There’s just something so magical about it. Okay excuse me as I drift off to sweet wonderland for a minute. It melts in your mouth perfectly. Hey, really… even those ice cream sold by uncles on motorbikes. (Reminiscing childhood days)
From ice cream cake, to FRIED ice cream, to ice cream sandwiches, sorbet, and many more. And it goes well with, well almost everything! What’s your favorite type of ice cream? Err… speak PG-13 yea! J
Fun Facts:
1. It takes 12 lbs. of milk to make just one gallon of ice cream. Wonder how they fit it all in one carton?
2. The U.S. enjoys an average of 48 pints of ice cream per person, per year, more than any other country. Maybe we should make ice cream the fifth food group!
3. It takes an average of 50 licks to polish off a single-scoop ice cream cone. Challenge your family to a Lick-a-Thon, and see who finishes first!
4. The biggest ice cream sundae in history was made in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, in 1988, and weighed in at over 24 tons. You can't order that in an ice cream parlour!
5. In 2003, Portland, Oregon bought more ice cream per person than any other U.S. city. Looks like everyone else has a lot of catching up to do!
6. The ice cream cone's invention is linked to the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis. An ice cream vendor reportedly didn't have enough dishes to keep up with the demand, so he teamed up with a waffle vendor who rolled his waffles into cones!
Mmmm… Off to get a cone for myself now!
Signing out!
