What's in a Number?

Put your hands up if you're one of those people out there who took a look at their Facebook pages and went, "WHAT IS WITH THESE PEOPLE AND 11.11.11?" *snarls*

What's the big fuss, right? Argh. The big hoohah aside, let's be glad the day's gone (and wouldn't come around for another 100 years or so). People get engaged/married. Some believe if you'd made a wish at 11.11am/pm on 11.11.11 your wish would come true (although personally I thought it was baloney).

That aside, there are 3 predicted scenarios/outcomes of 11.11.11:

Picture taken from here
  • Something bad happens - there is simply no scientific fact to back up this particular belief nor is it logical at all. The belief that something bad would happen on 11.11.11 is basically based on pessimism or better still, paranoia. However, it would also be wrong to say that the belief is erroneous - some cultures do believe so, and what could we do but do respect their cultures, right?
  • Something good happens - There is absolutely no scientific basis for this belief either, unfortunately. This belief relies solely on innate optimism, faith or spirituality, and the belief is not necessarily a bad thing either.
  • Nothing happens - This is (in this writer's opinion) the most likely of all three scenarios. Just because an unusual date number sequence occurs (and so what if it occurs every 100 years!) does not mean that something extraordinary would happen. Some people would take the opportunity to get engaged or married. Some would watch the clock and await 11.11a.m/p.m with bated breath just so they could make a wish and wait for it to come true, as per widespread belief. Some would just moan, cover her eyes and wait for the craze to die down.
So yah. What's YOUR scenario?
